“Empowering Business using Blockchain” cohosted by Systems and IBM

Tuesday, December 3, Karachi – Systems Limited (SYS), in collaboration with IBM, hosted “Empowering Business using Blockchain” today at Mövenpick Hotel, Karachi. The event focused on better understanding blockchain technology and the use of IBM Blockchain Hyperledger Fabric and Hyperledger Composer to address real-world business scenarios.

The event began with an in-depth presentation by Ashraf ul Kabir, Software Group Technical Manager at IBM. “We need to assess whether a use case is good or bad for blockchain technology, depending on its scope and complexity,” he said. “A process can be trusted with blockchain over the life because it’s tamper proof and greatly secure.”

The presentation was followed by a keynote speech by Ovais Khan, Head of Digital Frameworks at Systems Limited. While elaborating on the benefits of using blockchain technology, he said, “Today, there is an inherent lack of trust in what we share and how we do business. Blockchain helps remove intermediaries and builds trust to share information securely across the network.”

The most anticipated session began when Asif Bilgrami, VP Professional Services at Systems Limited, came to the stage and introduced IBM Blockchain. Asif Bilgrami was joined by Usama Yousuf, Software Engineer at Systems Limited, who gave a live demonstration of IBM Blockchain to the audience while answering their questions. During the highly interactive live demonstration, the demonstrators explained industry use cases and used IBM Blockchain to illustrate potential solutions.

The event concluded with one-on-one consultations on blockchain and the IBM Blockchain platform between attendees and experts.
