1LINK acts as an open future for digital banking in Pakistan
March 15, 2021
Being the only entity integrating banks throughout the country, 1LINK links its member banks to VISA, MasterCard, JCB, and UnionPay global payment networks, as well as PayPak, Pakistan’s domestic payment scheme, which is owned and managed by 1LINK.
1LINK has thrived over the years, and many third parties have wanted to carry out transactions via 1LINK. According to the CIO of 1LINK, they wanted to enable banks, fintech, independent service organizations, bill aggregators, and initiators to use 1LINK services. However, there were some challenges regarding the cost and time required to connect with 1LINK’s system, and after careful consideration, 1LINK decided to opt for an open API platform.
After a thorough evaluation of several API management platforms, 1LINK chose IBM API Connect solution and engaged Systems Limited to manage the project. From early on, Systems Limited was involved in overseeing the project, was working closely with IBM on the project’s overall scope, and consulting on software and security issues.
With this joint effort with IBM and Systems Limited, 1LINK was able to establish an environment where transactions and excess to APIs are extremely secure.
