Systems and IBM co-host “Business Innovation through Analytics”

Wednesday, October 16, Karachi – Systems Limited (SYS), in collaboration with IBM, hosted “Business Innovation through Analytics” today at Karachi Mövenpick Hotel. The event highlighted the uses and capabilities of the IBM Analytics solution suite, which helps simplify data management, optimize business decisions, and mitigate risk.

The event began with an informative presentation by Samer Mahmoud, BU Technical Executive (MEA Region) at IBM. He talked about the AI journey and key steps that organizations must take to accelerate implementation. He also emphasized on the importance of information architecture. “No AI without IA,” Mr. Mahmoud remarked.

The presentation was followed by a panel discussion on IBM Analytics, the importance of innovation using analytics, and how data analytics applications help fulfil business needs. Muhammad Tariq, AVP of Machine Learning and Data Science at Visionet Systems moderated the discussion. Panellists included Samer Mahmoud, Muhammad Awais Ejaz (Data and AI Technology Specialist, IBM), and Habib Ahmad (Head of Data Analytics and BI, Systems Limited).

In his discussion of decision optimization, Muhammad Awais Ejaz said, “If you take a use case of traffic routing, you have the data of traffic, geotag, maps, and directions, but you can change and alter this using data. Through prescriptive analytics, we can do this sort of decision optimization across various business use cases.”

Habib Ahmad offered insight into devising a successful implementation strategy. “You need to start with a consensus of all stakeholders to conclude to build a data-driven culture within an organization,” he said. “When driven from the top, the likelihood of driving sustainable success increases drastically. Data evolves from time to time. It is an incremental process. You start with a specific use case and extend that periodically.”

The event concluded with one-on-one consultations between attendees and data experts on data analytics and the IBM Analytics suite.
